If your organisation thinks large print version of documents are worth providing, then at least do it right… not like this
As a designer, I often make a design decision without thinking why, just knowing it’s the right thing to do. Occasionally clients want to know why.
So, here’s the beginnings of a list of research that’s relevant to the work I do:
‘The brain processes images faster than words’, a statement that I’m sure is true, but needs to come with a huge caveat.
I know everyone is obsessed with the design aesthetic of Apple, Aston Martin and so on, but there are plenty of designs I’d happily have back instead.
Compliance The guidance says all the text has to be the same size
Me ‘It can’t possibly say that!’
Compliance ‘Yes, everything has to be the same’
Me ‘But what about this information here: shouldn’t that be more prominent’
Compliance ‘But that would suggest that some things are more important than others’
