Open09

Well I survived day 1 of open09 in Preston, and I have to admit, I was wrong – there, I’ve said it, now don’t expect to hear it again for a long time.

I had a slightly cynical attitude going in, something along the lines of it possibly being a bit ‘studenty’ (to quote someone who’ll remain nameless unless they want to be named). As it turned out the discussions I was involved in on Government 4 Creatives and The future of the web were intelligent and grounded in reality whilst exploring some interesting concepts for the futures of both these topics.

For my part, I now have to deliver on one promise I made, that having spent a long time having ‘open source’ explained to me, I would prove I understood what I was being told. So, here’s open source ‘made simple’:

Open source software is created so it’s easy for other people to edit it, either to personalise it or improve it

Bet you’re glad you asked?

If you found this interesting/amusing please tell the bits of the world you're connected to. Thank you.
