No jargon… busted!

The FSA’s new moneymadeclear website promotes itself under the slogan ‘No selling. No jargon. Just the facts.’.

Now I’ll admit my past experiences with the FSA caused me to take this promise with several pinches of salt. I have found them, as with many experts, unable to detach themselves from their knowledge of their subject area.

This time though I’m happy to give credit where it’s due. They’ve done a good job, ata superficial level at least; indeed it took me a couple of clicks to reach the first part of jargon that isn’t there. But fear not, the trusty ‘jargon buster’ is ready to save the day. Hold on a minute. Why would a site with no jargon need a jargon buster?

Upon further inspection, I didn’t think that a significant amount of the jargon was jargon. There’s a much longer post to be done on what qualifies as jargon, and the three words ‘I didn’t think’ hold the answer. More soon
