With a memory that often bears a strong resemblence to a sieve, I frequently find myself with a blank look when my peers reminisce over their childhoods. Some things though remain fresh, and as a parent I’m lucky enough to revisit for a second time.
One of these is the wonderful books of Eric Carle. That’s why a huge smile came over my face when I saw the latest adaptation of the Google logo to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Very Hungry Catterpillar. Having had it read to me as a child, had it bestowed on my daughter courtesy of a nostalgic Aunt, read it to my daughter and had it recited back to me, it’s safe to say it has survived two generations – and will no doubt please many many more.
